Well, pardon me while I gush about this joint! We shared an order of taquitos, which is not something that you would necessarily think could be awe inspiring. Yeah. Pork wrapped in the lightest fried tortilla, like a crisp egg roll. Guacamole with cilantro, which is what is supposed to be in there, with lime as it should be done. Lumpy, not gloppy, not pureed. We kept pausing to linger over it and exchange variations of "wow". My taco came in the usual two corn tortillas but the inner one was lightly fried, the outer one warm--this is the new way I am making mine at home. It doesn't seem like much but it adds to the taste and texture. The pastor, which everyone seems to have a different interpretation of, was a little sweet, a little sour, with spicing unique but in the neighborhood of a chorizo. I am probably describing it badly (even though thinking about this is making my mouth water). Just go order it, enjoy it and do a better job describing it in your review. Beans were scratch made. The enchilada was the folded corn tortilla with saucing. I had to look this up, because I knew it couldn't have had a standard cheddar on the inside. I think it is known as Queso Chihuahua. Melted real nice, but a little more bite and a slightly different taste; very nice! Queso anejo, kind of like a Romano cheese, by texture at least on top rather than what we see elsewhere. Sodas, by bottles and plastic liters. For this meal, we paid a little over $10 with drinks, which is just silly cheap! Divey, but reasonably clean. Staffed by nice professional guys. Clearly a neighborhood joint that I can not recommend enough! This is one of the best places I have seen for this type of food; praise I do not hand out easily.I just wish I could get my hands on it more often.

This place is very small and modest but the food is amazing! It's a very small place with few areas to sit but I always order to-go. The staff is prompt and friendly! It's one of my favorite places in town!

If you can get past the location and building, hands down the best Mexican food in town.

Stopped here on my way through town based on good yelp reviews, hoping to find a tasty local score. The place is dirty & run by kids, very disorganized. Other reviews said "best tacos in town!" Well, if this is the best, then i feel very sorry for the locals, and the other options must be really REALLY bad. I'll make sure to skip this place, and the whole town as well, on the next road trip.

Not much to look at outside or in, but the food is excellent. My wife declared her combination tacos the best tacos she'd ever had. If you'd like something not on the menu, ask and they'll accommodate you if they can.

I attended OIT ages ago. My husband and I have made it a point of going through Klamath Falls instead of Medford to and from places, just so we can stop at Los Morenos. It really raised the bar on what I expect in a good taqueria sans decor. Their tortas are the absolute most delicious.

What a STUNNING discovery. Let me preface this review with a declaration that I live 10 minutes away from Watsonville California. We have more Mexican restaurants per capita than 99% of most cities in the United States. As a result....I'm a huge good snob when it comes to authentic Mexican food. And if you think Taco Bell or Chevy's is real Mexican food....please come to this place and get an education of what the real deal is. I YELPED for a Mexican place while in Klamath Falls and this place popped up. Yes, it is not an impressive place. Yes...I did activate the alarm on my car when I walked to the restaurant. But folks....after dinner I would not have cared if someone stole my car while I was eating....because while I waited for the police I could have had something else! I told the young lady at the counter that I had come to the restaurant based on the YELP Yreviews. Blank stare! No one working there had ever heard of YELP and were shocked to see how popular they were. I read all 11 reviews up at the time and they were all pleased to see they were well liked. I nearly wept when my three tacos came out...I did weep when I finished them. I wept because they were the best tacos I've ever had in my 56 years on this planet. I wept because I did not order 5. My wife had two tacos and then ordered the chicken enchiladas to have later when we got to our rental cabin on the lake. My son had a carnitas burrito which he claimed was the best carnitas he has EVER had. Prompt service, cheap eats, freshly prepared, and some of the best Mexican food you could hope to ever have. The fact it was in Klamath Falls, Oregon is so shocking it makes me smile to think of it. Go here, eat here, and spread the word. If you leave here and don't rave about the food....get yourself to a doctor and have your head examined. Or slink back to Taco Bell and save the good Mexican food for people who deserve it. My son says " 10 stars "

Terrific! Simply one of the best Mexican restaurants I have discovered. Had a few tacos, an enchilada, and a burrito. Everything was fresh and hot. This is the real deal. I am always amazed when I stumble into a place like this in the middle of nowhere. How come they can make it look so easy? So many Mexican restaurants are simply awful. Nicely done Las Morenas!

Las Morenas is an amazing, amazing, amazing hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. My boyfriend and I found ourselves in Klamath Falls, driving back to California after camping near Crater Lake, and we yelped for Mexican food. We both ordered cheese enchiladas, which came with rice and beans and we agreed that they were the best we'd ever had. We went to school in Santa Cruz and now live in the Bay Area so we aren't easy judges either. If you're in Klamath Falls, or even have to drive out of your way to get there, do it, go to Las Morenas! This food will leave you satisfied and make you sooo happy.

Las Morenas is simply fabulous. In fact, it might be the best singular taco trio experience I have ever had. I am saddened that I live 7 hours away in Portland, because this joint would be absolutely mobbed up in PDX. I ordered simply: 3 tacos, a lengua, a tripas, and an al pastor. The lengua was easily the best I've ever had, melting in your mouth (to use that hackneyed cliche), and spectacular. The tripas was equally good, cooked to a near well done-ness, but with a great char and savory flavor that I had to call the winner. The al pastor was cut thin, almost shaved, and had an equal level of char and chew to it. My favorite aspect of the whole experience was that everything was SAVORY, not sharp with citrus or sharp with excessive spice, although you can order things hot. This fact alone sends LM into my favorite taste zone, the savory. These folks at Las Morenas have something seriously delicious going on. Start with the tacos, and don't fear the tripe and tongue!

Went there today for tacos. Great tacos. We had the tortas and tapatios as well. Everything was really good. I would go here or the one up the street over anywhere else in Kfalls for Mexican food. A couple margaritas would have been nice though.

Decent tacos and other Mexican food, but I do not agree with the five star reviews. The pastor taco was very good, but the carnitas and chicken tacos were only average. Price was right

THE BEST tacos, chimichangas, burritos I have EVER HAD!! I live in Coos Bay now but when we go to visit family, we head here first!! SO YUMMY,!!

Went due to Yelp reviews. Greatly disappointed. Mediocre food, at best. Produce was tasteless. Had to ask for eating utensils. Flies buzzing around. When walking to the back through the kitchen to use the restroom, large amounts of cooked meat were sitting out, and had been sitting out for a while. Urp.

Stopped for lunch and was most pleasantly surprised. You can't go wrong and they have great home made macaroons.

My favorite restaurant in Klamath Falls! Cheap and authentic. I always get a wet burrito or enchiladas.

The best food I've had in Klamath and a solid 4 stars. As other people have mentioned the burritos and tacos are both good. Personally I thought the tacos were a bit expensive (I think around $2) when compared to some great tacos I've had at other places (about $1.25), but then again food in Klamath wasn't as cheap as I expected. If you need your authentic Mexican food fix like me then this should definitely work. On a side note other reviewers mentioned that this place is in a ghetto area of Klamath.....really?....lets be serious, what area of Klamath isn't ghetto. (Yes, I say that and I like Klamath.)

I first tried this place in 2002 simply because of the extreme jank-factor, and six years later, it's still the best burrito I've had north of Chico, CA. They've really fixed the place up quite a bit. No more picnic tables inside! They painted over what looked like puke on the walls. Good call on not doing that dreadful de rigeur salmon-colored sponge-paint thing that every Mexican place has! They got rid of that old grab 'n go fridge unit and expanded the pass-through area, so now it's more welcoming and immediately clear where and how to place your order. I especially recommend the al pastor. Nearly every taqueria in Oregon has al pastor that tastes like the kinda BBQ sauce you get from a megalocorporate fast food place, but Las Morenas' al pastor has just a hint of sweet, but a much bolder spicy flavor. At the risk of talkin' like some kinda wine snob, I dare say it's even gotta fair amount of complexity! I know that if I ever lived in K-Falls, I'd make Las Morenas a weekly ritual.

Thank you Yelpers! We just enjoyed an awesome lunch here on our way from CA to Bend. I had carnitas tacos - satisfying! Lots of meat, onions and cilantro. Hubby had a taco/ enchilada combo plate that he devoured. Our sons Chicken burrito was fabulous - my husband and I were fighting for the leftovers. And our daughter's taquitos were delish - freshly made. If we travel back through here on the way home I will be returning!

Decor isn't great. That area of K-Falls is scary. But they have the best holy trinity of tacos (carne asada, al pastor, carnitas) that my wife and I ever had. A must visit for sure!

Simply the best! We are Californians, vacationing in South Oregon and Klamath Falls was our home base. It was so good, we ate here 4 times in 6 days! All the meats are good, especially the al pastor and tripa. It was unbelievable and unexpected find, now we are back home in NorCal and constantly comparing the local taquerias to this one. To date, we have not find one better. Oh, Las Morenas, how we miss you....

Really good tacos. I had pastor, asada and lengua. The lengua was my favorite. I will come back next time I'm working in KFalls!

I highly recommend the carnitas burrito. The chicken enchiladas were good, but the burrito was the best. Friendly service, hole-in-the-wall place, reasonably priced with very generous portions.

This place is out in the middle of no where! Drove from Bend, OR to the Bay Area and it was lunch time in Kalamath. Looked on Yelp for places to eat and this pulled up. So we weaved our way through the neighborhoods to this place. From a mexican food perspective, the menu lacked diversity, but over all it was good. I think that the rice and refried beans take the top spot for tasty. I got three tacos and they were decent at a reasonable price. There was a lot of traffic coming in and out of the store. What did I learn today? Locals walked across the street to buy beers and bring them to have with their tacos.

Don't let the location or exterior fool you, this is my favorite Mexican food in Klamath. They are so friendly and their food is always tasty.

Absolutely delicious food. I reccomend the torta. Don't at all feel nervous about the location, the people here are good. Quite honestly, the best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at! The carne is expertly seasoned and cooked deliciously. Wholeheartedly recommend!

The exterior of Las Morenas is pretty unremarkable. The inside is just a postage-stamp dining room and not overly appealing. The food, however, is brilliant. Delicious and cheap. Unless there's better to be found, I've got my take-out Mexican fix in Klamath Falls!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
